URSA sets up houses for homeless cats

With the beginning of winter, URSA team together with Irpin Youth Council (IMR) started a project to install cat houses in Irpin city parks.

Four houses have been already installed. Each one can accommodate up to seven cats and help them to survive the cold winter.

"From the first days of the full-scale war in Ukraine there have been hundreds of pets left on the streets of Kyiv region cities such as Irpin, Gostomel, Bucha, Borodianka, as well as all over the country. These pets are not used to live on the street, so without a warm place to spend winter nights they will simply die," says the Head of URSA Supervision Council Olena Machynska.

To date, craftsmen have made 3 more cat houses to URSA's order and they will have been installed by the end of January 2023.

"We are not planning to stop with 7 cat houses. Compared to the hundreds of abandoned animals, this is actually a drop in the ocean. Therefore, we decided to take a global approach and developed a project called "Humane City of Ukraine". It provides for the installation of cat and dog houses for homeless animals in other cities of Ukraine as well," - says URSA founder Yaroslava Koba.
